Girls Who Code Book Review

girls who code

This is a book that makes my feminist heart happy. The author, Reshma Saujani, visited a lot of schools and saw that there were many boys in coding classes, but few girls. When she did some number checking, she learned that women only make up 4% of the workforce who code.

Her response to this was to write a book that would appeal to girls and explain what coding is, and the basics of the process of coding. The language of the book is simple and easy to understand. The illustrations are fun and beautifully done.

Below is a sample of what that looks like on the page.

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in coding.

  1. Love it! Our girl scouts have been learning a little about robotics and programming! I might get this book as a resource for their book shelf!
