From Rough Draft to Published is Published!!

I’m almost at a loss for words right now. For the last few days/weeks/months all my time after work has been on this project.

One of the major things I set up was a Writer’s Resources Vault for people who get the book and sign up for the blog with their email address, they can access a vault full of resources I mentioned in the book. Such as these documents that I’ve created…

Story Planning Page (basic outline)
Outliner or Discovery Writer Quiz (just for fun)
Character Sheet Pg 1 & 2 is for those who like to hand write their sheets. Page 3 & 4 is for those who would rather type them.
Ultimate Editing Checklist (Beginner or pass #1)
Ultimate Editing Checklist (Advanced)
How To Create a Nice Critique Group
Manuscript Standard Format Checklist
Alpha or Beta Letter
Self Publishing Checklist (Includes relevant links)
Book Information for the Cover Designer
Example Contract for a Short Story
Submission Tracker

Many of the documents are ones I had already created, but several were created just for this book, like the Self Publishing Checklist. I will be adding to it as time goes on.

Anyhow, I’m so proud of this book. I am not sure what to do with myself now. Well, I am but I just want to take a minute to celebrate with my friends, but I can’t because of COVID19. Sigh.

Here is the link if you care to purchase it. https://amzn.to/2ZkrRRT

As you may have seen, I’m doing lots of shameless self promotion of this on social media. I know of about 4 people (friends and sister) that have ordered it online, but of course none are showing up on the Reports page. Sigh. Patience, Kathryn, patience… *hits refresh 5 billion times*

So now, I’m going to set up some Amazon ads to start and probably some Facebook ads. So basically I am in the learning Marketing and Ad Copy phase of my journey. The good news is that once I’ve learned some things, I’ll happily share them with you!

#semperindoctrina #learnwithme

Here is what I’ve learned so far. I’ve calculated some rough numbers regarding the book. I spent around $800 for cover design, ISBN numbers, editing, and a few misc. items. My royalties are $2.40 per book sold. So I need to sell approximately 333 books to break even on what I’ve invested in it. 4 friends have told me they bought it. I learned today that those sales won’t show up if they are paperback until they actually get printed. I better get on those Amazon ads I guess.

Meanwhile, I am starting my novel. I feel fiction-rusty right now. Maybe I’ll begin with a character sketch scene just for practice to get to know Joan again. This novel is going to continue the story of Joan and Albert as they battle a fiery foe. Believe it or not, I have a title for this novel already, Of Two Worlds. (OTW)

I debated on alternating POVs between Joan and Albert. But after this story being in the back of my mind for about a year, I think I’ve decided to use just Joan’s POV. Maybe.

So short post today. I’m eager to get started on the novel!

Have a lovely Friday and don’t forget…buy my book. My son, says he doesn’t think this meme is going to help sell my book., LOL! This is how I feel when I promote my writing though.
