Reading Rush starts TODAY! (July 20-26th)
So what is Reading Rush? Their website says:
The Reading Rush is a week long readathon for book lovers all around the world. For one week readers gather together to read as much as they possibly can and to participate in challenges and giveaways online.
https://www.thereadingrush.com/about
They have several challenges. This year they are:
1/ Read a book with a cover that matches the color of your birth stone.
2/ Read a book that starts with the word “The”. (You might find this harder than you think!)
3/ Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve already seen.
4/ Read the first book you touch.
5/ Read a book completely outside of your house. (See video for details on this one. We do not want anyone to be unsafe!!)
6/ Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of.
7/ Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live.
I had every intention of doing nothing but read this week.
Then life…
It’s good though! As you may know, I’m a teacher. Many Texas school districts have offered an online only option. My district administration asked me to help train teachers to effectively teach via internet because I use technology effectively in my classroom all the time. So yeah! I feel honored and excited to do this! We’ve already had a couple meetings to plan the training. This week we start to teach the training classes.
I will, of course, read to unwind, so I can still participate, just not to the extent I originally thought.
I plan to read…

1/ Color of your birth stone–Emerald–Hunted by Meagan Spooner. Isn’t that a lovely cover?
3/ Inspired a movie.–Wonder Woman by Leigh Bardugo

6/ In a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of. I would like to read more of Historical Fiction. I used to think I didn’t like it because it was boring. But I’ve read several in recent years that I thoroughly enjoyed. For example, Secret Soldiers. I just checked out Live in Infamy from the library, so that’s what I’m starting with this week.
I also haven’t read much Horror. This year’s Lone Star List has one called Small Spaces that sounds really good too! I have that book in my TBR now.

Reading Rush also offer badges for each challenge and more. Here are a few, but the website has more listed.
