I just heard about this thing called The Reading Rush. It is one week of reading as much as possible. It starts July 22.
The Reading Rush is a week long readathon for book lovers all around the world. For one week readers gather together to read as much as they possibly can and to participate in challenges and giveaways online. Starting in 2019 the Reading Rush introduced a website, in order to allow anyone taking part in the readathon to track their reading statistics and come together in a central place.

I think I might try it this year. I doubt I’ll read a whole seven books, but maybe a few books. One of the fun parts is that it has challenges which can earn you badges. Here are the challenges and what I plan to read for them, if I can squeeze it in between my grad school assignments.
2019 Reading Challenges
1/ Read a book with purple on the cover
2/ Read a book in the same spot the entire time
3/ Read a book you meant to read last year
4/ Read an author’s first book
5/ Read a book with a non-human main character
6/ Pick a book that has five or more words in the title
7/ Read and watch a book to movie adaptation
Bonus/ Read 7 books!
So What do I Plan to Read?
1/ Purple Cover- Sorcery of Thorns (my OwlCrate edition has a purple cover)
2/ Same spot-I’ll probably read one of these before bed each night as is my tradition. I’m not sure which one it will be yet.
3/ –Hunter by Mercedes Lackey
This has been on my TBR for a million years…or maybe since 2016. I need to read this one because Scholastic says it has mature content. I’m not sure just how mature it is. Never mind ML is one of my favorite authors.
4/ Debut book- We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal
5/ Animal Character- Hunter because Mercedes Lackey animals are always characters that play a major role in her stories.

6/ Title with 5 or more words The Camelot Code: The Once and Future Geek by Mari Mancusi
I met this author and she signed my book. The title made me giggle and I i bought this book simply because I love the title and Arthurian legend.
7/Movie adaptation book- I’m not sure. I actually think I way more on this list to read than I will be able to do.
The “Book Wyrm” bookmark in the image is from Isabelle Gedigk Art (https://www.etsy.com/shop/IsabelleGedigkArt?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=593036617 )
So I have definitely bitten off more than I can chew but let’s see how much I can do in a week. Go to https://thereadingrush.com/members/kathrynfletcher/ and friend me so we can encourage each other!
Happy Reading!
